Baltic Hub, Port of Gdańsk, Port of Gdynia, DB Schenker, Naftoport
Baltic Hub is the largest container terminal on the Baltic and its third berth opened in 2024. Pomerania handles the majority of Poland's container traffic, and the port is the reason the whole regional economy exists.
Shipbuilding & marine engineering
Remontowa Holding, Gdańsk Shipyard, Crist, Damen
Remontowa in Gdańsk is one of Europe's largest ship repair groups. The industry that made the city, and the one that produced Solidarity in 1980, is still a substantial employer.
Offshore wind
Baltic Power, PGE Baltica, Ørsted, Orlen, Vestas Szczecin
Poland's first commercial offshore wind farms are being built in the Baltic through the second half of the 2020s, with Gdańsk and Gdynia as the installation and service base. It is the most consequential new industry on this coast in a generation.
Software & R&D
Intel, Amazon, Nordea, Bayer, Lufthansa Systems, Sii
Intel's Gdańsk site is one of its largest research and development centres in Europe, and the Tricity has become a real engineering market rather than an outpost — heavily weighted toward systems, embedded and cloud rather than consumer product.
Financial and business services
Nordea, State Street, Thomson Reuters, Arla, Sony Pictures
The Nordic banks in particular built large operations centres here, drawn by the ferry and flight links to Scandinavia. English-speaking entry-level roles cluster in this sector.
Tourism & hospitality
Around 3.5 million visitors a year, Gdańsk Airport, St Dominic's Fair, the Hel and Sopot season
Fiercely seasonal. It transforms the summer labour market and the short-term rental supply, and it is why coastal rents behave differently between June and October.
