Jobs in Sharjah

The sectors hiring, the employers to know, and how work really runs here.

Sharjahruns on a handful of strong industries. If you’re job-hunting or weighing a move, here’s where the opportunities (and the big-name employers) are.

Top industries & employers

Manufacturing & industry

Hamriyah Free Zone and SAIF Zone tenants across steel, plastics, food and building materials

Sharjah carries a disproportionate share of UAE manufacturing output. Hamriyah Free Zone has its own port and heavy-industry plots, and SAIF Zone sits on the airport — between them they are the emirate's industrial base and its largest expatriate employers.

Aviation & logistics

Air Arabia (headquartered at Sharjah International Airport), Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, Hamriyah Port

Air Arabia, the region's first and largest low-cost carrier, is based here, and Sharjah International is a major cargo airport. Aviation, freight forwarding and warehousing hire in volume and in English.

Higher education

American University of Sharjah, University of Sharjah, and the wider University City campus

University City is one of the largest concentrations of higher education in the Gulf, and academic and research posts here are a genuine route into the country for foreign staff — a different immigration profile from the corporate one.

Culture, publishing & media

Sharjah Art Foundation, Sharjah Book Authority, Sharjah Publishing City, Sharjah Media City (Shams)

The emirate has invested deliberately in arts and publishing. The Sharjah International Book Fair is among the largest in the world, and Shams offers a low-cost media licence that attracts freelancers and small studios.

Healthcare

University Hospital Sharjah, Al Qassimi Hospital, and a large private clinic sector

A substantial hospital and clinic base serving both Sharjah and the northern emirates, and a steady employer of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals from across Asia and the Middle East.

Trade, retail & SMEs

The Central Souq, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce members, SPC Free Zone licensees

Sharjah's economy leans on small and medium businesses far more than Dubai's does, and cheap licences through SPC Free Zone and Shams have made it a common base for one-person consultancies and traders.
