Vilniusruns on a handful of strong industries. If you’re job-hunting or weighing a move, here’s where the opportunities (and the big-name employers) are.
Top industries & employers
Fintech & payments
Revolut, Kevin, Nexpay, Paysera, Bank of Lithuania supervised EMIs
Lithuania became one of the EU's largest electronic-money-institution hubs by licence count, with the Bank of Lithuania supervising well over eighty EMIs. Revolut's European banking entity is licensed here, which put a great deal of compliance, risk and engineering work in Vilnius.
Lasers & photonics
Ekspla, Light Conversion, Standa, Brolis
An unusually deep speciality: Lithuanian femtosecond laser makers supply research institutions worldwide. It grew out of the Vilnius University physics faculty and still recruits directly from it.
Shared services & global business services
Danske Bank, SEB, Western Union, Nasdaq, Moody's
Nordic and US banks put large operations, IT and risk centres in Vilnius. This is the single biggest source of English-speaking white-collar jobs in the city.
Life sciences & biotech
Thermo Fisher Scientific, Biomatter, Caszyme
Vilnius has a real molecular biology tradition — Virginijus Šikšnys's CRISPR work was done here — and Thermo Fisher's Vilnius site is a major enzyme manufacturing base.
Software & product
Vinted, Nord Security, Tesonet, Hostinger
Vinted is Lithuania's best-known consumer product company and Nord Security (NordVPN) the best-known security one. Both hire heavily in Vilnius and both operate in English.
Gaming & creative tech
Nordcurrent, Game Insight alumni, TeleSoftas
A smaller but persistent cluster of mobile games studios, plus a growing film and post-production trade that uses the Lithuanian tax incentive and the Old Town as a stand-in for pre-war Europe.
