Britain's motor industry started here — Coventry was building cars from the 1890s — and the design and engineering half of it never left even as assembly did. Jaguar Land Rover's corporate headquarters and engineering base is at Whitley, LEVC builds the electric London taxi at Ansty, and the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre is the national facility for scaling battery manufacture.

The University of Warwick and WMG, Coventry University, the National Transport Design Centre, the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering
The University of Warwick is a Russell Group institution on Coventry's southern edge, and WMG — its manufacturing research group — is one of the largest university–industry engineering partnerships in Europe. Between Warwick and Coventry University the city has one of the youngest median ages of any English city.
Games & digital creative
The Leamington Spa studio cluster twenty minutes away — Codemasters, Playground Games, Sega HARDlight, Ubisoft Leamington — plus Coventry University's games and animation courses
'Silicon Spa' around Leamington and Warwick is one of the densest concentrations of video-game development in Europe, and it is a twenty-minute train ride from Coventry station. A very large share of the people who work there live in Coventry, because the housing is cheaper and the trains are frequent.

Coventry Building Society, the Co-operative Bank under its ownership, Cadent and other utility head offices in the region
Coventry Building Society is one of the largest mutuals in Britain and is headquartered in the city rather than in London, which gives Coventry a genuine financial-services employment base — a rarity for a Midlands manufacturing city. Its acquisition of The Co-operative Bank added a full retail bank to that.
Logistics & advanced manufacturing
Prologis Park Ryton, the M6/M69/M40 corridor, Dennis Eagle, Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin operations across Warwickshire
Coventry sits at the junction of the M6, M69, M45 and M40 within an hour of most of England's population, which is why so much national distribution runs through Warwickshire. Combined with the engineering base it makes this one of the strongest regions in the country for supply chain and manufacturing roles.

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust at Walsgrave, Coventry City Council, the West Midlands Combined Authority
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire runs the major trauma centre for the region from the Walsgrave site on the north-east edge of the city, alongside Warwick Medical School. It is one of the largest single employers in Coventry.
