Vietnamese practice · Ho Chi Minh City
Southern Vietnamese practice for newcomers and returners, mixing everyday phrases with the tones people find hardest. Anchored to the Ho Chi Minh City guide and to whatever the week threw at everyone.

What taking part asks of you
- Mixed levels on purpose. Beginners get patience; confident speakers get pushed.
- Tones are the hard part and take repetition. Expect to repeat.
- Northern and southern pronunciation both come up. Neither is the 'correct' one.
- Speakers are participants, not unpaid teachers. Only correct as much as you want to.
Host guide draft

- Split by level for the drill and recombine for the conversation. One undifferentiated group loses both ends.
- Do tones with minimal pairs and do them early, while attention is fresh.
- Name the regional difference out loud each session. Learners hear two versions and quietly conclude they are getting it wrong.
- Ten minutes of listening to something real — a menu, a song, an announcement — beats ten more minutes of drilling.
- Keep it to an hour. Language practice past an hour stops working.
